Song
of Songs Music is proud to announce the release of Cantor Wayne Siet’s new CD,
Live in Concert. Siet has
been the Cantor at Temple Shaari Emeth in Manalapan, NJ for over 25 years.
The CD was recorded live at Cantor Siet’s May 5, 2001 Concert at Temple
Shaari Emeth and features 15 tracks of Jewish liturgical and popular music.
Cantor
Siet was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He graduated from the Hebrew Union
College-School of Sacred Music in 1979. Siet
then served as a Student Cantor at Nassau Community Temple in West Hempstead,
Long Island for one year. Following that, he became Cantor at Temple Shaari
Emeth, a post he has now held for over 28 years.
Siet has served as a Trustee on the Board of the American Conference of
Cantors, is a member of the Clergy Association of Freehold, and has officiated
at thousands of weddings.
Siet and his wife, Randee, have
three children, and currently reside in the Manalapan, NJ area.
Oseh
Shalom,
the opening track of Live in Concert, hit the #2 spot for Jewish music on
MP3.com (Second only to Hava Nagila, perhaps the world’s most famous
Jewish song). The song made it’s debut on the popular website on April 24 at
position 264 and in less than two weeks had rocketed to #2.
The song was also in the top .5% of songs overall regardless of category.
Live in
Concert
was produced by Giles Davis, a New Jersey musician and producer (and member of
the popular NJ band Brian Kirk and the Jirks). Davis has produced and performed on recordings in a wide
range of genres, played on commercials and jingles, and has produced music for The
Food Network. In addition to
producing, Davis also appears as a vocalist and on a variety of instruments
(Guitar, Keyboards, Bass, Accordion, Drums, and Drum Programming).
Michele Haber, Choir Director at Temple Shaari Emeth, appears on
keyboards. Bryan Douglas, also of Brian Kirk and the Jirks, contributes piano on
one track. Noreen Gumnick and Lisa
Littman both add their flutes to the closing song.
In
addition to Cantor Siet, the Adult Choir and Junior Choir of Temple Shaari Emeth
lend their voices. There are also
vocal performances from Helene Unger, Janet Blau, Lori Schwartz, and Sam Levine.
The 15
track CD features several songs commissioned by Temple Shaari Emeth that were
written especially for Cantor Siet by such composers as Jeff Klepper, Michael
Issacson, and Jill Higgins. In
addition to the liturgical songs are wonderful performances of classic show
tunes from Sound of Music, Man of La Mancha, Carousel, Showboat, and others. Live
in Concert is a showcase for one of the richest and fullest voices anywhere,
Cantor Wayne Siet.
